What we did today - 11/02/15

Today we filmed most of the start of our title sequence. We filmed someone putting a video tape into a TV and the TV going all fuzzy as this is going to appear in our title sequence at the start. We also filmed the news report that will appear when the kidnapper puts the tape into the player. During the day, we also filmed the drain scene that will appear in our title sequence. In this part of our title sequence we will have the kidnapper washing the bones he has stolen from a grave, mud and blood will come off of them and he is trying to wash it off. In our title sequence we wanted to show the audience that some time has passed by doing this today we filmed trees blowing in the wind for a couple of minutes then in post production we will speed up the footage. Below are some photos from today's filming.

The main cast for our film

Courtney Cox, is going to play the mother in our film. We decided to pick Courtney Cox for this role as she has been in all 4 scream films and knows the thriller/ horror genre well, so we thought she would be able to adapt to this role easily.

Paul Dano, is going to play both the Father that dies at the beginning of our film and also he is going to play the villain in our film which is the twin brother. We picked him for this role because he played a similar role in Prisoners which was another film we looked into. In this film he was accused of abducting two girls and in the film he acted psychopathic and this is what we would like him to act like in our film we need him to act similar in our film.

Leonardo DiCaprio, is going to play the main investing detective/ police officer leading the case to find the missing boy. We thought he would be good at playing this role as he is always a leading man in films and also he has been in psychological films such as Inception and Shutter Island.

Pitch feedback

Today in our lesson we pitched to the class again because we had made improvements based on their feedback they gave us the week before. Unlike last week, everyone understood what our narrative was about but wanted a clearer understanding to as what was going to happen at the end of the film. The class liked the fact that we had researched into our two films that inspired us which were prisoners and taken. However, some people thought that our budget was too high even though our film had Leonardo DiCaprio in it. They all understood what our title sequence was about and liked the concept. Something they wanted us to improve on was the narrative, the budget and to re-think the cast. This is because some people couldn't understand why Leonardo DiCaprio was in this genre. They thought we have to pick someone that has been in this genre before.
